• Lily's Dream: While Lily's dream in Chapter 1 is a direct result of her fears about moving to Central, Dana is actively watching her through the cameras he installed in their old home and can speak to her through the cameras. So while she does not know it yet, she has heard Dana's voice in her sleep before.
• Fun Author Fact: The Sandover home in Central is based on a house the author's family renovated and lived in when she was a child.
• J.A.N.E.: The book detailing the Second American Revolution was originally meant to be included as chapters in between stretches of Lily's narrative, but the idea was scrapped as the novel continued to grow in length. J.A.N.E. was meant to symbolize "Jane Doe," as in no one knew who had actually written An Angel Without Wings, when in reality it was a collection of the four main advisors appointed once the Washington System was toppled to do image control and paint a better narrative of the Second American Revolution to be sure Thomas Ankell and Bryant Morris were seen as heroes of the revolution rather than extremist domestic terrorists. The acronym was composed of the first letters of those four last names.
• Lily's Dream, Pt 2: In Lily's nightmare in Chapter 11, she wakes after hearing "I'm going to eat you alive." As is revealed in Inside the Commission, Dana is, in fact, watching Lily sleep during this scene and does whisper that to her when he sees she is having a nightmare. He sneaks out before she returns from the bathroom.
• Eina: In Chapter 14, Lily sees Eina for the first time. Eina will eventually become the first D.E.M.O.N. and is the very first demon of the species and the founder of the Kaneaka Clan, eventually leading to the birth of Rutu Kaneaka-Kage.
• "Tommy": Lily's father hates being called "Tommy" because that was affectionately what his older brother would call him, and ever since his brother was reported to the Commission and disappeared, Thomas hates being reminded of his older brother because the wound of his loss is quite painful.
• Lily & Dana Dance: When Lily hallucinates dancing with Dana at Archangel, is based on the song that sparked the author to write the entire novel. This hallucinated dance scene was the first scene written for Inside. The fact that the song is "foreign" is actually supposed to be a clue that Lily is hallucinating/drugged.
• Experiment Notes: The notes that Lily and Clark receive that gives them information on how to work against the Commission are in the code used by experiments. If Dana got his hands on these notes, he would be able to partially read them as he was once an experiment himself. However, the experiment passing on this information does not know that, so it was very lucky Dana never saw these notes.
• Lily's Lab Visit: When Lily is being taken to the Commission lab to get her tracers inserted, Mark turns to look at the other Asian experiment who passes them in the hallway. That experiment is Josh, and Josh was making motions with his fingers at his side spelling the name of the scientist who was in the lab to keep Mark informed.
• Mykail's First Steps Outside: In Chapter 33 when Lily insists that Dana would not know if Mykail stepped outside the house just for a minute and Mykail is reluctant, his fear is that he knows that Dana can tell when he steps outside due to sensors that are on the cuffs around his wings, and he knows that his first signal to Dana to amp up the game with Lily and push her into more rebellious actions is when he can get Lily to agree to let Mykail step outside. At this time, Mykail is already starting to feel deeply for Lily and he wants to keep Dana from pushing her into more dangerous activity because he knows that Dana is baiting Lily's every move so that she becomes rebellious enough to try a revolution (like Dana tried in his youth).
